Out-of-Network Providers (Providers that are not contracted with your insurance)

What are out-of-network providers?

The psychiatrists at Mind Compass do not take insurance; however, some insurance plans will reimburse a portion of the fees.

If you have a preferred provider plan (PPO) or other non-managed care plan, you may have “out- of-network” benefits. This generally means that you have the option to work with a clinician who is an “out-of-network” provider, and that your company will reimburse subscribers for a certain percentage of the doctor’s fee. Although you would be responsible for paying Mind Compass directly, you would have the option to submit an insurance claim form for any and all sessions with our psychiatrists. There is sometimes confusion because Dr. Feingold and Dr. Samuels may be listed on some panels due to past and current hospital affiliations. However, Mind Compass is a private practice which is a separate entity and should be regarded by insurers as out-of-network.

Rationale behind not accepting insurance

By not accepting insurance, Dr. Feingold and Dr. Samuels are able to focus the time on you instead of calculating the time and frequency of visits based on insurance company’s regulations. Insurance companies continually require information from the Psychiatrist in order to determine if they will continue to cover treatment. This can lead to long delays before treatment decisions are made and is often disruptive to treatment. The insurance plan can set any limits they feel appropriate at any time on the kinds of treatments you can receive without warning. At Mind Compass, the quality of care is never sacrificed.

What you need to do....
What you need to do....

Since every employer’s insurance plan is different, you are encouraged to contact your insurance company directly so you know what to expect regarding deductibles and the process of potential reimbursement from them. You will be sent a superbill from Mind Compass with all of the necessary information for you to submit to your insurance company.  The information most plans are looking for include the NPI #, License #, ICD 10 procedure codes and DSM 5 diagnostic codes.

If you don't have the bandwidth to submit your claims, you are not alone. There are websites that can do it for you for a fee, eg. reimbursify.com.

**One last thing...(and it's important)

It is also important to point out that insurance companies do not generally reimburse for collateral work, phone calls > 15 mins or missed appointment fees, and you would be responsible for paying those charges directly, even if the insurance company covers a portion of the office visits.
